Uniquely formulated by Sceneys for our harsh Australian weather, Sceneys Weatherproof Oil is the go-to multi-purpose oil-finish for outdoor applications. Use on outdoor timber beams, patios, furniture, posts, window frames, doorsteps, mud bricks, bricks, bluestone and more. Sceneys Weatherproof Oil will not crack or peel as a coating and penetrates deeply for a long-lasting preservative and protective coating. Sceneys Weatherproof Oil gives a high performing, high-build clear, natural finish and prevents timber from warping, cracking and drying in the harsh Australian weather conditions. Being one of the most natural products on the market, the combination of seed oil and a long chain alkyd resin ensures a protective coating that both penetrates deep into the timber and has a dual action leaving a protective coating on the surface all whilst enhancing the natural colour and grain of the wood. It also provides protection against wet conditions by repelling moisture. Sceneys Weatherproof Oil is economical to use and easy to apply. Sceneys Weatherproof Oil is the best to use for highlighting & protecting the natural beauty of outdoor timber fences and structures, facades, garage doors, playgrounds, sheds, street furniture and repels water moisture, mould, algae and UV. It can easily be re-applied and also tinted for added beauty and colour.
High performing , high build Weatherproof Oil
Always wear appropriate PPE and read SDS before use. Always dispose of oil-soaked rags carefully as they can self-combust, submerse in water or hang out to dry before disposal.
If swallowed do not induce vomiting, give a glass of water. For advice contact the Poisons Information Centre (13 11 26–Australia) or a Doctor.
UN1263 Paint Flammable 3
Covers 10-14m2/L. Can be spray, brush, pad or roller applied. For hardwood timber species, e.g. Merbau and Jarrah, ensure that the timber is thoroughly clean before applying weatherproof oil. New Merbau usually has resins and tannins that must be washed out for best results. When the timber is clean and dry, apply weatherproof oil straight from the can and brush or work in well. Do not leave excess oil on the surface because the oil is designed to penetrate and dry deep into the timber, and not on the surface. If excess oil is left on the surface it will go tacky and dry slowly. A second coat is best applied on the following day. If the surface is tacky do not apply a further coat. For soft absorbent timbers, e.g. Cedar and Oregon, the oil will soak in quickly. Two coats should be sufficient in most cases however, if the timber still looks dry, apply a third coat.
This will depend entirely on weather conditions and the type of timber used. For the first 12 months inspect every 3 to 4 months. If the timber looks dry apply a quick further coat. No preparation is needed, simply go straight over the existing surface. For internal applications usually only one coat is needed and this should last for years. Always be guided by the condition of the timber and only apply oil when necessary.
Sceneys Ezyclean or Mineral Turps
Sceneys Timber and Decking Oil can be tinted with Sceneys Wood Tones if you want to add some colour to the timber e.g. for light timber such as pine or for weathered timber which has lost its natural colour.
Sceneys Timber and Decking Oil will seal all absorbent surfaces. It is great for bricks, pavers, mudbricks etc. The oil soaks into the surface and binds any loose particles which creates a dust free environment as well as highlighting the natural colour of the srface.
Always test a small area when applying over an alternate deck oil or coating.
